How do I put it best... OVERPRICED, DOES NOT WORK, RUINED THE LOOK OF OUR HOME, WOULD NOT RETURN OUR CALLS WHEN IT CLOGGED!

Do not waste your time with this product or company. They claim they are owned by a big corporation and thats a good thing. Like any big corporation they treat you like a little guy and never returned any of our calls!!!!!!!!!! GUTTER HELMET YOU ARE A JOKE OF A PRODUCT AND A JOKE OF A COMPANY!

They did a killer sales job on us, wish they would spend as much time on customer service as they do sales!

Iโ€™m not sure people posting here are honest! I feel this posts are actually low end products trying to drag Gutter Helmet down to their level.

I havenโ€™t witnessed any of these issues on either of my houses with Gutter Helmet. 15 years and counting!

Product does just what I hoped it would. Thanks

Iโ€™ve had gutter helmet on my last two houses. It works great.

I check it every spring with a flashlight and the gutters are spotless!

Couldnโ€™t ask for more. Thanks Gutter Helmet!

I'm the Tulsa Gutter Helmet dealer. The Dallas guy did go under.

My son used to install for me here. Now he's in Dallas selling in the med field. Call me, I'll have him check it out and get you fixed. I've been selling Helmet for 25 of my 35 years in the gutter business.

If there were a better product I would sell it. And the best part the big company that owns us Gibralter will pay me to fix your system.

In south side Hampton Roads gutter helmet dealer went out of buisness in 2013 and left 5000 customers with no service. Gutter Helmet could not find another reliable contractor to take over the area until they approached an ABC SEAMLESS franchise in northeast NC thats been installing Gutter Helmet since 1988.

They have taken over south side Hampton Roads and have established an office in Chesapeake, Va.

no sub crews , only in house certified installers. This company has been in buissness since 1974

I've had this product for 10 years . Yes I spent a premium for the product however it has performed perfectly the entire ten years.

Have had the guards for several years and now some parts are leaking. Could be they were installed incorrectly.

They hang over the gutters by about 1 inch. Local dealer is no longer in business. Company's toll free number connects to a bathroom fixture business.

I've filled in an online form but doubt anyone will respond. Do your homework and check the install before you pay.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Gutter Helmet is truly one of the worst companies in the wold and owned by SEMCO Southeastern Metals, which is just as awful.

I would stay clear of Gutter Helmet and it's affiliates at all cost. BUYER BEWARE!!!

To Gutter Guy from 8-18-2011. I have a similar experience as well, with having Leafguard and now Gutter Helmet on my home.

I can attest and support your statements, LeafGuard not only failed after just a couple of years, calls for suport have fallen on deaf or unwilling ears. My Gutter Helmet runs, work great, (its been a few yers now), except for hosing them off once a year to clean off the pollen and debris, they work great. I have NOT had to climb a ladder on the Gutter Helmet side at all, except to quell my curiosity.

Ive done some research and my opinion, most of the comments posted here to the contrary, have been posted by LeafGuard employees, anc customers who have been paid to do so.

I was offered $100.00 to post five bad postings here by my LeafGuard sales rep.

He stated they "do it all the time". Makes me realy wonder about the quality of the postings here.

I have gutter helmet and it seems to be working great / have to spray off the pollen on the nose of helmet once a year but that's fine

Just for the guy about telling the truth I install a gutter screen First off nothing is 100% Maintenance free.Saying that i've taken off many feet of Gutter Helment plus just about ever other hood system out there. So saying they work is not true the get dirty and stop working Not all screens Clog and when they do mostly it is moss and thats what ruins the reverse curve system itself.

You can and will get moss on any roof that is north facing due to shingles.

I have installed many systems and found out that most dont work. If you have only installed one system you will not know if its the best.but i would really say if its not on your house and you didnt buy it dont post on pissed off consumer because a consumer your not.Let the home owners post complaints that is what this site is about not a bunch of sellers claiming to be the best

Had Gutter Helmet installed on 3 houses as we move around the US. We currently live in a snow area with lots of trees.

We were already SOLD on their system but we were worried about snow and ice too.

The consultant informed us that; how the house is constructed, the amount of insulation as well as attic ventalation can contribute or cause ice cycles and no gutter product causes it or prevents ice cycles. If ice cycles were an issue they had a self thermostat heat coil that worked in temperatures as low as 5 degrees below zero.

Gutter Helmet worked on all 3 of our houses and it was the only product that reinforced and supported the gutters. The filter products, some made with plastic that will fail, rest on the gutters and in a snow area the snow weight puts more stress on the gutters causing many of the problems including gutters to crash to the ground.

I wish it was less expensive too, BUT it works and is competitively priced to filters that don't. It's cheaper than repairing roof problems, leaks into my house or basement and cheaper than replacing fascia or soffits: AND I DON"T HAVE TO CLIMB A LADDER!

I live in the south eastern section of Virginia, and have had my Gutter Helmet since 2003, and have not climb a ladder since then. Yes it was heavy on the price, but WELL WORTH IT !!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU.......

:? Putnam county Tennessee.

Gutter Helment installers drilled double holes and did not seal them plus did not seal the other screws that went into the facia so now the facia is wet and rotting. Now I got to do it.

Gutter helment charged me a high price and came from 75 miles away in another county, then I find out there is one is my same county after they claimed there was not, of course we were new here. Not recommended unless you get up there and check their work.

I too had gutter helmet installed for about 2 years. Seemed to work the first year but icicles definitely were a problem.

I live in Northeast Ohio and agree that icicles form on the lip of the gutter helmet nose and drip down water which freeze on my front porch. And I had lived in the house for 20 yrs and never had a problem like that. But the big, big problem for me was the leak that developed after about 2 years even though I had Ice guard underlayment. Due to the low slope on my roof (3/12), it would form an ice dam in the spring and leak back into the soffit area.

They use screws to install it. The installer never warned me this problem could occur and came out and wanted to facia mount for more money of course. I told him it should have been installed that way if it needed to be.

Had it taken off with new roof installation and just use a blower to clean gutters. Definitely would not recommend in a winter climate.

OK so lets state some facts here and disspell the Rumors or lies. Lets call out who and what we are and WHY the products work or DONT work...

ANY screen product that has vertical openings, whether screen, mesh, slots, troughs, or other vertical openings WILL either do two things, Let debris into your gutters thereby clogging them, or CLOG ON TOP, and thereby negating the purpose of having gutters altogether.

Any Vinyl product only last 1-3 years if your lucky, and end up blowing off onto the ground consistantly.

Hood style gutter protection works a lot better and YES the size, shape and style of the hood DOES matter. Here is what affects the water flow and effectiveness of the "hood style" covers.

Shape, texture, water slowing measures such as ribs, or "hills", the size of the product, HOW LONG the water takes to travel the width of the product, the slope of the roof, the installation technique and most importantly the finnish on the product.

There are only two "real" hood type products, LeafGuard and Gutter Helmet.

I can tell you from experience, I have BOTH on my home. Originally I had just LeafGuard on my home and for the first year or two it worked, after about three years, "yes i performed the maintenance advised", the product became less and less effective.

After a branch fell and dented a 65' run and I had to replace the entire run because of the patented "1 piece" design, I decided to try Gutter Helmet. NOW let me assure you that my entire home is surrounded by Maple, Pine, Pin-Oak and Moss trees, and well lets just say its a gutter nightmare. The Gutter Helmet has been installed on my home for 6 years now and works amazingly well.

I have occaisionaly climbed up there and checked the cleanliness of my gutters and they are very clean, with just a minimal amount of roof grit still in there. The LeafGuard side however continaully has about 1/4-1/2 of an inch of rotted decaying debris in there. The Leafguard which is only three years older than the gutter Helmet, has faded, and looks filthy all the time.

I also get a lot of run off over the leafguard side which has a 4/12 pitch, whereas the Gutter Helmet Side has a 6/12 & 8/12 pitch.

Calls to LeafGuard have gone unanswered for weeks at a time, and some calls were never returned. Service, which was supposedly covered, ended up costing me 327.00 additional, because of something they called and "act of God", (leaves getting into the system)..??

Here is MY educated Opinion & personal experience. Screens are a JOKE, Vinyl is useless, leafguard does NOT hold up to to the test of time, and Gutter Helmet although NOT quite as expensive as LeafGuard, yet still pricey, has solved my issues. I am in the process of replacing the rest of the LEafGuard on my Home with Gutter Helmet.

I am in NO way affiliated with Any product listed in this posting. I will keep you posted with updates - 8-18-2011

Thanks for taking the time to share your positive and negative comments. The sales pitch is impressive, but the price is huge and it's good to see that not everyone is pleased.

As for companies paying money to trash what they can't beat, don't companies that sell products also spend big bucks to advertise. Frankly, I didn't like the hard sell, the vague promotional discounts, the "Price Confidentiality," or the installer's failure to break the cost down.

Like many consumers, I like to know what I am paying for and there was nothing in the way of cost per foot. My sense is to pass up the offer, which was reminiscent of the old magazine sales pitch!

I had hutter helmet insalled 15 years ago. Here's my complaint: After a year or 2, the lip gets a pollen crust on it and the water drips straight of the crusted lip to the ground right by my foundation.

I do live in the woods, wich is why I spent the big bucks on gutter helmet. I didn't want to have to be climbing up a 2 story ladder to clean my spouts every season. Instead, if you live in a wooded area and don't clean the lip of the gutter helmet every season or 2, the lip gets crusted with pollen debris and you have to climb up there and scub off the crust anyway!

I just called my installer to complain and they said gutter helmet is no longer cleaning the lips for free!!! What a ripoff!!!
